What is this program?
In the era in which the boundary between reality and virtuality is growing blurring, the old type of enjoying the show in which the audience sits under the stage and watch the show on stage from a distance is no longer meeting the needs of most of the audience nowadays. The audience is eager to be in the same space with actors, and they even want to be someone who has the right to change the dreamland. The Arts Incubator Program (AIP) hosted by China Merchants Culture Industry | Performing Arts Connection encourages innovators to jump out of comfort zone, try changes and explore the new-type creation of the non-theater space.
In the AIP, China Merchants Culture Industry | Performing Arts Connection offers several non-theater venues with different types for innovators to choose. The AIP Creation Workshop is also well-prepared, and the first-round chosen innovators will be invited to Shenzhen to communicate with each other on the spot and inspect the space. Furthermore, the total CNY one million of grants are close at hand as well! They will be applied to support the implementation of several chosen excellent creation schemes in the final round.
We are absolutely sure that AIP is a golden opportunity for someone who has wonderful ideas, would like to break the mold, and owns much experience on project practice. Who is the organizer?
We are China Merchants Culture Industry | Performing Arts Connection, the premier performing arts organization established by China Merchants Shekou..Although there are only four years' history for our company, we are passionate about performing arts and innovation. In 2018, our company hosted the premiere of Les Falaises de V immersive show in China, and we made the use of the combination between non-theater space and VR technology. Finally, the audience had unique experience at that time! In 2021, Performing Arts Connection cooperated with Shenzhen Fat Bird Theatre and Sound Waves to release Street Deducation Game Shekou Latitude – Whale Song. In this play, the audience were led to search the clues left by the autism kid by the sound of his mother. In 2022, the Shekou Theater Festival will be planned and prepared and titled with New Performing Arts Space. We hope to cooperate with the Greater Bay Area to show you the diversity in performing arts.

Who are eligible for applying
for AIP?
The working staff members above the age of 18 and teams who have innovations, unique ideas, and are bold in testing and reforming performance types.
FOUR
What kinds of arts are we looking for?
The forms of performance are unlimited, and cross-border exploration based on digital media is encouraged. The arts we are looking for are the works of art which can make the best of non-theater spaces provided by the organizer, and are featured with innovation, artistry, feasibility, and suitability with the show space.

Sea World Area

Shenzhen Sea World is a comprehensive zone integrating culture and tourism. It is near to the coast. Here you can see a culture and art museum, a shopping center, the art and the culture space rebuilt from the beach house and outdoor lawn.

Nanhai E-cool, formerly known as Sanyang Factory, was transformed into a park with obvious artistic and cultural features on the premise of original structures in 2008. You can experience elegance and tranquility, as well as the comfort brought by the quiet green space at any time when you walk here under the shade of trees.
